The students of the Trier Universities, who inculpably find themselves in financial distress and who are therefore prevented from orderly continuing their studies, may be granted social allowances.
Principally, the allowance will only be granted after the expiry of the first year of studies (= 3rd semester) and it will only be granted once in a semester.
It is expected from the applicant that he will reasonably contribute to resolve his difficult financial situation. This also includes that he takes out loans.
A committee decides about the granting of a loan on the basis of insights gained from the submitted application documents or from personal interviews.
